Goals

The aim of the Usability Workshop is to provide the workshop participants with an awareness of the tools and techniques commonly employed by usability specialists.

This is a practical workshop that emphasises the need to be able to work within the constraints of a project's budget and web site/application development lifecycle.

The underlying philosophy of the tools and techniques discussed is a user-centred design approach that advocates the active involvement of users throughout the development lifecycle.

Benefits

The Usability Workshop provides proven strategies for planning, designing, and conducting effective usability tests.

Participants will learn the methods for evaluating the usability of a web site/application. These evaluation methods include expert reviews and design walkthroughs of the web application, based on task scenarios.

Who should attend

This workshop is ideal for anyone involved in the design, development, testing or maintenance of web site/applications.

It will be particularly useful for those persons who are directly dealing with user requirements and therefore responsible for the software quality in terms of meeting the user's expectations.

The workshop will provide insights into what to be aware of in terms of user needs while the web site/application is being developed, so that mistakes can be avoided and/or corrected during the development cycle.
